These terms explain how purchases of printed books through this website work, and your rights before and after you order. Please read them alongside the product details and keep a copy for your records.

1. About us and these terms

In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the seller identified below. “You” means the customer placing an order. These terms cover consumer purchases through this website.

Seller: WIRRAL BOOKS LTD

Company registration number: 16747026

Registered address: Whitfield Buildings 192-200 Pensby Road, Heswall, Wirral, United Kingdom, CH60 7RJ

Contact email: enquiries@wirralbooks.co.uk

You can contact our customer support team about an order or these terms. Please include your order reference where available.

2. Book descriptions and availability

Check the title, ISBN, language, edition, binding and condition on the product page before ordering. Different editions of the same title may have different contents or formats. If any detail is unclear, contact us before placing your order.

Availability can change. If we cannot supply a book you have ordered, we will contact you to explain the position and arrange the appropriate cancellation and refund. We will not substitute another edition or title without your agreement.

3. Placing and accepting an order

Review your basket, quantities, contact details and delivery address before submitting your order. Tell us promptly if you notice a mistake. An amendment may no longer be possible once an order has been dispatched; this does not remove your cancellation rights.

When your order is accepted: A contract is formed when payment is received for the books you order, normally at dispatch. We confirm acceptance in the shipment email. An acknowledgement of your order is not acceptance.

Keep the order emails we send you. They identify your order and provide a record of its details. If you do not receive an expected message, check your spam folder and contact us with the email address used at checkout.

4. Prices, payment and promotions

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include applicable VAT. Check the final total, any delivery charges and any applied discount before submitting your order. Use a payment method you are authorised to use.

Payment methods: Use the credit or debit card option shown at checkout. Check your order total before submitting your details.

When payment is taken: Card payment is taken when your books are dispatched.

If a pricing error affects your order, we will explain it and seek your agreement before proceeding at a different price. We will not increase a charge without your agreement. See Pricing & Payments for further information.

A promotion is subject to its displayed eligibility and expiry conditions. Any additional promotional benefit is separate from your statutory rights.

5. Dispatch and delivery

Our delivery page explains supported destinations, delivery charges and available estimates. Dispatch means an order has left us; it does not mean that it has arrived. Tracking may depend on the delivery service used.

Unless a different period is agreed with you, delivery must take place within 30 days. Contact us if an order is delayed, missing or arrives damaged. We remain responsible for resolving delivery problems; you do not have to pursue our carrier instead of us. Your legal remedies for late or failed delivery remain available.

For delivery using a carrier we offer, responsibility for loss or damage remains with us until you, or a person you nominate to receive the books, takes physical possession. Dispatch alone does not transfer that responsibility to you.

6. Cancelling because you have changed your mind

For ordinary printed books ordered online, you can cancel without giving a reason until 14 days after delivery. Where one order is delivered in separate parts, the period runs from receipt of the last item. You may also tell us you wish to cancel before delivery.

Send us a clear statement of your decision using the contact details on our Contact Us page. Include your name, order reference and the items concerned. You do not need to wait for permission to exercise your right to cancel. You may use the cancellation statement in our Returns Policy, but it is not compulsory.

7. Returning books and receiving a refund

After notifying us of cancellation, return the books within a further 14 days. You may inspect them as you would in a shop. Where the law permits, a refund may be reduced for loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to inspect them.

We refund the cancelled goods and the applicable standard outward delivery charge. Extra costs for a more expensive delivery service need not be refunded. A refund is due within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or evidence that you sent them back, whichever is earlier. Refunds use the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise, and we do not charge a refund-processing fee.

See our Returns Policy for the return destination, return postage arrangements and any additional returns offer. Do not assume the registered office is the returns address. An additional offer does not replace your statutory rights.

8. Faulty, damaged or incorrect goods

Your rights where goods are faulty or not as described are separate from changing your mind. Contact us with your order details and a description of the problem so we can arrange an appropriate remedy under consumer law. A photograph may help explain damage, but does not replace your legal rights.

A promotional price or sale does not remove those rights. Nothing in these terms excludes a remedy or responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Personal information and contacting us

Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. Our Cookie Policy explains cookies and browser storage. Please do not send full payment-card details in an enquiry.

If you have a complaint, contact customer support with the order reference, what happened and the outcome you are seeking. You may seek independent consumer advice and use the legal remedies available to you.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for future orders. An update does not retrospectively change an existing order or reduce the rights attached to it. Keep the version supplied with your order for reference.

11. Your account

If you create an account, keep your contact details accurate and your password private. Contact us if you suspect unauthorised access. Updating an account address does not itself request a change to an order already placed; contact support about that order separately.

Do not use another person’s account without permission or provide information intended to mislead us. These responsibilities do not make you automatically liable for every unauthorised transaction or remove rights you have under law.

12. Using this website

You may use the website to browse books, manage your account and place orders. Do not attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious software or deliberately disrupt the site or other customers.

Book covers, descriptions, logos and other materials may be protected by rights belonging to us, publishers or other rights holders. Buying a book does not transfer copyright in it. You may save or print your order details and these terms for your records; other use of protected material requires permission or a legal exception.

External websites linked from this site have their own terms and privacy information. We do not control their content. Temporary website unavailability does not cancel an existing order or remove our obligations to you.

13. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of contract or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill. A loss is foreseeable if it is an obvious consequence or was something both parties contemplated when the contract was made.

Nothing in these terms limits responsibility for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be limited. Your statutory rights relating to the quality, description and supply of goods remain unaffected.

If an event outside our reasonable control affects an order, we will explain the effect and any available options. Such an event does not remove your statutory cancellation, refund or delivery rights.

14. Other important terms

If a provision is found unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcing a right does not, by itself, mean that right has been given up.

These terms do not require you to give up mandatory consumer protections or use a court that would deprive you of rights available under applicable law.

Applicable law: These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. This does not remove mandatory consumer protections or your right to bring proceedings in the courts available to you in the part of the United Kingdom where you live.

Dispute resolution: Contact our support team with your order reference, the problem and the outcome you are seeking. We will review your complaint and respond. You may seek independent consumer advice and use the courts or other legal remedies available to you.
